Second is, and this might reflect the background of a lot of people
drawn to 2600 programming, I think there's a relative lack of 6502-
specific stuff on the site, just the reference cards, not very
informative for a newbie.

I think most people use books for how-to and reference on the 65xx. 65xx books are pretty easy to find at used book stores, thrift stores, and ebay. I use the Commodore 64 Programmer's Reference Guide. I'd much rather use a book than have to read the info off the computer.
