Subject: [stella] Annual suggestions for improving Z26 :-) From: Manuel Polik <cybergoth@xxxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 21:10:07 +0100 |
Hi there! I know Eckhard and John will probably kill me for suggestion more features for Z26 right now :-), but it's only two and probably very simple! (And I have to post them now, before I forget :-)) 1. Scoping the log. At times I probably only want to now how certain areas of the code *behave* So maybe, when activating the log I could specify a range for the PC, and only what happens within this range will be traced. The other thing is even simpler - 2. stable framerate While mode 9 is an ok thing for the quick glance, it's almost impossible to play the game a while and constantly check the scannline count at the same time. Besides playing the game makes more sense in the normal view mode. So maybe something like this works: After z26 is certain about a desired constant scannline rate, for example 262, it could probably change the background color to white once after a frame was drawn with more or less than 262 colors. One could just sit down and playtest the game and would automatically notice when for a certain situation the VBLANK or Overscan calculation time was too long.
