What do you mean by `next generation'? What features should it have? What
should it do that a `current generation' debugger can't do?

I can think of answers to these, but I tend to think in 1980's terms
when writing code for the VCS.. to me, something like OmniMon or gdb for the
VCS would be ideal... or, for a nicer user interface, something like
Borland's old Turbo Debugger utility.

Other than user interface, how is a `next generation' debugger different
from this? It doesn't materially matter whether you single step by pressing
S or by clicking on `next step', they're still the same operation.. what
operations does `next generation' imply?

This isn't meant as flame-bait, I honestly don't understand what it is
that you want. Anyone else with opinions, feel free to sound off.
