CC. Since my Atari does a way better picture with all other cartridges, it seems more natural to seek the problem with the one troublesome cartridge, than with the console, or? :-)

Yes, but it's all relative because even the best possible RF picture can't compare to the composite or S-video output from a good A/V mod.

It has to do with the limitations of the RF specifications itself without even getting into interference issues.

Look at how the color get oversaturated and fluorescent-looking vs. the a/v mod images:

I know that's what we're used to seeing, but it's not as good as it could be.

I think everyone who still intends on playing their 2600s owes it to themselves to invest in an A/V mod. I mean, if they enjoy playing the real thing, they should at least see the cleanest picture that the 2600 can output.

And as for the CC interference, I have to assume it's unavoidable based on how much it's doing inside. Any effort spent trying to shield the CC or wrap your RF cords around magnets or wrap them in tinfoil or route through VCRs is really silly when the whole thing can be fixed once and for all with an A/V mod.
