About the fog in N....
- first of all very few video cards support other
fog option than "linear" mode,
and in N... 1.0.1 I think that if you set
"Exponential" or "Exponential Squared" , linear mode
was used instead if these modes were not supported
(without warning the user which is a bug, sorry:(
- The fog start and fog end factors only apply in
"Linear" mode , and as you said most of the time the Fog end factor will be equivalent to you camera back clipping
plane....
- The fog density only applies when you are in
Exponential modes which is as said above rarely the
case.... So that's why it looks like it have no
effect :)
- A ceiling on the fog would be akind of
"volumetric fog" which was not proposed by N... 1.0.1 so
it's only an optical illusion in the sample you saw...

etc.
Hello,
Can
someone elaborate on the fog in Virtools?
The
density setting seems to have no effect.
The
fog end value acts like a camera clipping plane [nothing is visible beyond
it].
Is
it possible to set a ceiling for the fog?
The
sample recently posted [re:multitexturing and fog] seems to have fog with a
ceiling. Is this simply an optical illusion?
I am
experimenting with using particles for fog so I can control it and make it
dimensional. Has anyone else tried this with success?
Regards,
Rob
