Hello
everybody,
First,
thanx for the great tips so far!
I'm
currently doing a realtime walkthrough model of our new office complex with
N***.
This
is my first experience with N*** Creation and I had no time to really learn the
tool before I began with the project. I had to jump right to it, so expect
a lot of stupid mistakes.
The
walthrough is going to be presented on a big cinema screen to about 600 people
on tuesday, 20 februari, and I'm kinda starting to panic already. Me
scene still needs a lot of improvements and finetuning. I also need to add
collision detection and some objects in the scene.
The
most urgent problems, I believe, are maybe the walk script and the number of
object in the scene.
I just
want to give a fluent presentation, without any bugs or errors in my
scene.
For
the number of objects in my scene: I only imported every object once in the
scene and made duplicates which use the same mesh objects and materials.
You
will see brick walls in the scene with windows. Is it better to make the
wall with windows one single mesh with one single texture instead of separate
objects and loose quality?
Here
are some problems I experience:
- On a
PII 400 Mhz, Matrox G400 Max (32Mb) Videocard, 384 RAM, the walkthrough is
starting to get slow (started when I added a lot of chairs and
tables).
- On a
PIII 500 Mhz, Diamond Viper TNT2 (32Mb) Videocard, 128 RAM, the walkthrough is
pretty smooth, but sometimes at specific points the camera just jumps a few
steps forward and skips a few frames.
- I
don't know how to configure the script to position the camera at a position I
want it to be.
-
...
If you
encounter any other problems, mistakes in my scene, please let me know.
Any
tips on how to further optimise my scene are more than welcome!
Should
I buy a GeForce2 ??? Will additional RAM help? Maybe a dual
processor?
Hey,
I'll even send you the cmo source file if you want (it's 702 KB for now) if you
want to have a go at it.
If you
need additional information, just let me know.
Many
thankx for reviewing my project and sorry for the long mail.
I'll
put all the contributors in the credits list ;)
