If you are building this kind of world, I suggest you take a constructive
solid geometry (CSG) approach like that used in first person shooters.
In other words, your walls must have depth - each wall is built out of a
distorted cube, etc..
Then, the object slider should work as you expect.
On a side note, make certain that the object slider is using the approximate
geometric center of your character as the root for its calculations or the
sphere approximation may not do what you want it to do... or expect.
