Jean Marc,
As I stated in my previous mail, the 2.5 user
guide is the same as for 2.1. I also explained why this is the case.
The User Guide itself will not have major updates
as it will be entirely redone for the next major release. I've gotten some
excellent feedback from Matthew Wegner on its shortcomings, with concrete
recommendations. If you have ideas or recommendations, I'm all ears. (I got that
you want tutorials with greater complexity)
As for the information from people learning
Virtools, feedback hasn't exactly been forthcoming. I plan on using the teaching techniques used by the fabulous
Virtools training staff, who many of you probably met already (Leila, Antoine,
Eric, Ouali and Sylvain...). Once again, Jean-Marc, if you have anything to
concrete to share with me, please do.
A bug fix patch with a VSL online reference
(currently slated as a CHM, not PDF) will be available in a couple of
weeks. The information will posted on the website.
cheers,
Frede

Hi Frederique
When I read in the User Guide of Virtools 2.5,
section 28.3 - Plan the Content: "Normally, planning the content is your
responsability. For the purpose of this tutorial, we have planned the content
for you." I suggest that you put yourself more in the shoes of the
user rather than asking the user to climb a mountain. The two examples
covered in the User Guide are so simplified that I find them difficult to
apply to a real project. The User Guide needs some help, some
content have been presented so many times and the same way in
previous versions that its hard to think that all the
feedback from people learning Virtools has been used.
Since you mention in your email that "PDFs can be
modified quickly and cheaply, downloaded ". Please let me know where new
versions of Virtools pdfs can be found.
I hope this helps.
Jean-Marc
