Everyone is going to cheat, because normal (i.e. not computer science) people do not normally know much about functional programming. Which probably accounts for the sadly misinformed level of discussion re xsl on other fora at present. Perhaps with all this interest in languages *ML people should be given the pleasure of an introductory course in Standard ML before they start. 3) Why call them "variables" if they don't vary ? :) Not my call, but probably if they were called constants people would get confused that they had different values in different scopes. David PS I thought I was normal. XSL-List info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/xsl/xsl-list
