can be shortened to <xsl:if test="../*/attrtype != ''">.

But maybe you can shorten the complete code as I did it.

>     <xsl:if test="current()[not(end())]">, </xsl:if>

<xsl:if test="position() != last()">, </xsl:if>

should do the job.
