Graham,

I thought my output matched your requirement exactly! :-) Not to worry,
I won't take it too personally!

Rgds,

Dan.

Stuart, Danny,

Thank you both for your replies. I ended up using Stuart's code, because it
worked for me immediately.

Danny, nothing against your code, it's just me being obtuse, I know: I
believe you meant the "doc" template as a placeholder only, for me to
replace, but I didn't "get" how to do this.

Stuart, I also added [starts-with(text(),'-')] to the span specs, because
there are some other paras that begin with spans, but that don't begin with
the list item tell-tale "-". There are probably better ways to do this,
too, huh?

Thanks again,
Graham Hannington
