To XSLT changing <Books> to <Books xmlns="http://www.books.com"> is just like changing <Books> to <ljflai> and you code it the same way generating a new element name, not using copy or copy-of <xsl:template match="*"> <xsl:element name="{local-name()}" namespace="http://www.books.com"> <xsl:copy-of select="@*"/> <xsl:apply-templates/> ...
