I don't know who was the person you have mentioned in your letter, but a couple of months ago I also did some experiments in that area and I was saticfied with the results. RenderX has some interesting samples related to this issue and some would be published next 2 months ( approx ). PPS. Yes, there are numereous problems and not least of which are browsers.
