One issue here.

I like the sgml-sgml transform,
I can use Omnimark, sgmlc etc,
(and it may be a little easier than DSSSL) but
it is not an ISO standard, I must invest in a commercial
tool with all the pitfalls.
My choice would always be to use tools which implement
a standard.
Definately not a sideshow IMHO.
