Subject: Jade-like tools on other platforms? From: MARK.WROTH@xxxxxxxxxxx (WROTH, MARK B) Date: Mon, 9 Feb 1998 06:59:31 -0800 |
Pardon me if this is obvious, but I haven't found a clear answer to this elsewhere. I'm feeling my way toward a cross-platform method for sharing documents among a variety of locations, and some sort of SGML application appears to make sense (although whether or not its politically salable may be a different question!). I've been experimenting with Jade, and it appears that some home-grown DTDs, stylesheets, and Jade can handle the desired functionality -- at least on a Win95/NT platform. However, the group among which the documents need to be shared uses an eclectic combination of PCs, Macs, Unix boxes, and even one or two Amigas. Since this is a volunteer non-profit organization, standardizing on one OS is not a feasible option (if it was, this would be a non-problem in the first place). Are there generally available Jade-like tools for Macs? Amigas? Pre-32bit PCs? A common solution on all platforms would be good, of course (and Jade is very impressive), but I'm less concerned with commonality of the tools than I am with being able to do document interchange.
