Actually, in that example I introduced a new line *before* every start tag, not after, so that the element type can be seen at the left of the screen in an editor. This was the process I personally went through when I started converting data to SGML when I discovered how I was introducing stuff into the data that wasn't there in the raw information. Since what I wanted was the #PCDATA to be visible in my editor (to navigate the file while I did page up and page down), I then introduced the new lines before the TAGC.
