My initial reaction to that suggestion (Jeff made the same one when I ran this by him) was that it was misuse of that tag. The issue in question actually has a <volume-series> as it's currently defined because it's (at least) the second volume 1 of The Hospital. So it could conceivably be tagged as: <volume>1</volume> <volume-series>2</volume-series> My understanding of volume-series is that it's a descriptive property of the volume itself. (I'm actually wondering why we didn't make this an attribute and my notes from the discussions in 2007 aren't helpful on that point.) I see that as really fundamentally different than the described case in the documentation and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable capturing both with the same tagging. It would also seem a bit off to me if the way to tag this was so very different than the way to tag issues of the same ilk. I think I'm selling myself more on the idea that I need to request that <volume> needs to be able to repeat in Green. And now that I look at the Tag Library again, we've already added @specific-use and @content-type to volume, which almost feels like we were preparing for that eventuality. Thanks Debbie, I'm off to fill out the NISO request form. :) Laura ________________________________________ From: Debbie Lapeyre dalapeyre@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [jats-list-service@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2014 11:43 AM To: jats-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [jats-list] Journal meta: Multiple volumes Laura-- On Jun 5, 2014, at 10:07 AM, Randall, Laura (NIH/NLM/NCBI) [E] laura.randall@xxxxxxx <jats-list-service@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Hello, all. > > I've come across a situation with a very old journal that appears to have more than one volume. You seem to have the opposite case, an issue with two different volume numbers for a single issue. This seems to me to be a second case of a volume series. Might we add amend the definition and add a second example, or does this seem like shoe-horning to you? --Debbie ================================================================ Deborah A Lapeyre mailto:dalapeyre@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Mulberry Technologies, Inc. http://www.mulberrytech.com 17 West Jefferson Street Phone: 301-315-9631 (USA) Suite 207 Fax: 301-315-8385 Rockville, MD 20850 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Mulberry Technologies: Consultancy for XML, XSLT, and Schematron ================================================================
