I should clarify. The college is pay for the public performance but charging
nothing to attendees. I was also thinking that perhaps the licensing contract
might address the issue.

This issue comes up frequently when promoting activities (e.g. book
discussions, etc.) and I have to say I lean towards fair use but I'm not
really sure.

Thoughts??

Do the public performance fee contract have any wording about advertising?
There might something that allows images for advertising. Otherwise, the fact
that you are charging tips it over into asking permission, in my opinion.

Can someone answer this question. Our Student Activities Council is having a
movie night (paying public performance fees) and they want to know if they
can
use a image of the dvd cover (ToyStory 3) on a postcard flyer that will be
send out on campus to faculty / staff.

Thanks!
