OK, I've got a request that has me going back and forth, our IT guys have had language instructors ask to install MyScreenRecorderPro on their office computers so they can rip videos of the internet for teaching. Some of what they to do with it: Record video clips from streaming video to replay in class Store video clips in an archive for later and repeated use Use video clips to make new instructional materials using portions of video And "I'm sure instructors would come up with plenty of more uses as well. Also, I don't think instructional videoclips, for example, in the LEC where I was filling in last month, should be limited solely to news items, as was then the case." Thoughts? I was saying ok to record for use in class, but then started reading guidelines and started wondering if this would be considered a legally made or procured copy? Then the archiving for repeated use bothered me, but then I found where it seems to be common for language instructors to use material this way...so like I said, I'm going back and forth and could use some perspective.
