It both works out RAM limitation problems and allows you to use the sprite
method for higher resolution.

It just seems to me that if you are going to write a game that does
nothing but manipulate a playfield bitmap, you may as well use the
Supercharger format and thus bump up the resolution considerably.  What
I'm saying is, why bother forcing it into a ROM if you are also going to
make it suck by doing so?  It's a major tradeoff for a game like this.
