Hello!

First off I would like to say a big Thank you to everyone who has
contributed to this group. It has been the MOST valuable asset in the
beginning of my new emulator. It is also great to know that there are
other people out there who still appreciate and marvel at the technical
skills of classic programmers. My name is Phillip Powers and I have been
working about a month on an Atari2600 emulator for Linux. DOS support
was made briefly, but as I have no access to a DOS/Windows machine it is
quite difficult to continue this. The name of my emulator, right now, is
Emulatar (Thoughts about that one?). Right now this is definately NOT a
playable emulator. It works with a great number of ROMs and some of them
are even SOMEWHAT playable (Pitfall, defender..) There is no
bank-switching support right now, but this is something I have been
neglecting and will implement very shortly.

Last night I was thinking of a way to repay all that this group has
given me information-wise. I figured the best thing I could contribute
would be an emulator with a great debugger. So tonight, for the short
period I could actually work on this thing, that's what I started work
on. Please let me know of how you would like to see this implemented. I
have a website set up: emulatar.atari.org (or
www.angelfire.com/mo/atari if for some reason the other doesn't work).
On this page there is 1 snapshot of Pitfall displaying the preliminary
support for a debugger I have made tonight. What do you think about the
half/half idea? Also note that I have been upgrading the code so the
actual pitfall image isn't quite right. In the last two or three days I
have gone from 13 FPS (sheesh!) to right around 60, but sacrificed just
a LITTLE bit of usability that I have almost sorted out.

Please let me know what you think. I am anxious to hear from some
fellow 2600 enthusiasts!

Sincerely,

Phillip Powers
