Hi Piero! > >Actually River Raid is still (in 2001!) on the > >banned list for children under 18 in Germany... > ?! What kind of list is this? :-) It's a list compiled by the "Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Schriften (BPjS)". It's an official paper from the government that shall protect children under 18. All material on this list (whatever media) is banned from public advertising and is not allowed to be sold to children under 18. The list generally includes nazi propaganda material, porn and stuff propagating extreme violence. There's several hundred software titles on this list, ranging from classic stuff like 'Beach Head', 'Blue Max' or the before mentioned 'River Raid' up to modern games like 'Quake' or 'Duke'. This forces software companies to produce special german versions, for example we have not soldiers & blood in C&C, but robots & oil :-) River Raid had been put on the list some 20+ years ago (for whatever reasons, they sure wouldn't do it today...) and it seems no one ever cared in removing it...
