There aren't a lot of assembly resources on the net for the novice, and 
finding old books on the subject can be tricky.  However, I found this link. 
 It's an introduction to assembly on the Atari 8-bit but I think some of 
the novice programmers with Basic experience would do well to give it a read 
because it presents assembly in terms Basic programmers should understand.
