Actually, just setting the channel to +s (for secret) generally keeps spammers out. Also, anyone joining with a client such as mIRC or Ircle (which I use on my Mac) can set themselves to +i (invisible) upon joining to keep the spambots from finding them. Looks like I missed some action tonight.
