So you can turn cheats on and off without having to reprogram the MMC. Or experiment with various cheats (particularly cheats which may be mutually exclusive) without having to reprogram the MMC.

You can store multiple copies of a game on the MMC, each with whatever cheat you desire. Then just name them accordingly in the menu.
