Yippee! 
I have finally solved my platform generator problem. :-)

The solution is nice and very simple (that's how I like it :-):

Instead of adding to the SUM value when a platform leaves the screen, I just
constantly add a value to the SUM (exactly like when generating the initial layout).

This avoids all grouping effects and even makes the code a few bytes shorter!
