I have the unthreaded message browser done:

It seems to work pretty well.  The way the search engine works (Verity) 
it's separate from the database itself so it's hard to get it to combine 
keyword search with the attachment and member filters but I managed to get 
it working.  If the message archive gets that much larger it might start to 
get too slow, but I think it's reasonably fast for now.
