I think we've discussed this on the list recently, but, just in case..

I have a BP Microsystems BP-1200, which is overkill for homebrew projects.
There are tons of good entry-level programmers - EETools' ChipMax, M2L
Electronics, or the Needham's Electronics EMP-10.

It all depends on what types of devices you want to program, the price you
want to pay, and the product support,
