Chris,
What sort of project are you working on?
What machine configs are you testing virtools on?
Are you referring to sound in general on the web, or are you referring to
implementation in Dev/Creation?
I don't know anyone using max or maya for realtime. Maybe for modeling and
animation, but neither of those is suited for real-time or designed for it.
Based on what I have seen so far, Dev/Creation (needs a new brand name), is
the most robust and open ended solution out there for a wide variety of
applications, and is at an affordable price point. I think they have proven
themselves and their software with the current release, I am looking forward
to the next version eagerly. I think they will surprise you and exceed your
expectations.
