Thank you for this, it has given me the inspiration I needed. After a short
nap I was able to build on it and came up with:
<xsl:template match='target/*' mode='parameters'>
<xsl:param name='caption'/>
<xsl:variable name='name' select='name()'/>
<xsl:value-of select='$caption/*[name()=$name]/@value'/>
</xsl:template>
