Thanks for the quick reply, Chris.  I think I've actually got it figured 
out not...I was still defining in the wrong place.  I put it into 
dbsect.dsl in the (define ($section-title$) function, and horriby bright 
red did appear in my pdf just as expected...  (Wouldn't you know, I bang 
my head on this all night and then ten minutes after I finally break 
down and ask for help, I get it figured out.)

I am fetching your colored table stylesheets though, because I can see 
already it's going to be a confusing process with lots of trial and 
error for me.  ;-)
