Hi Tony, The version 4.0 includes SCRIPT, STYLE, CLASS constructs that allows the inclusion of scripts and CSS. These constructs where mentionned in 3.2 but not included in the DTD. Do you think that macros for the STYLE , SCRIPT and class construct are feasible? I guess that for CLASS probably yes because it is a element's property but I am not so sure for SCRIPT and STYLE. Your opinion on that Tony? By the way, I compiled a new version of the DSSSL engine (Talva's Jade version) and added the -2 parameter. I am always surprised to see that it is as fast as the Microsoft XSL engine to render a SGML document. Imagine, we have SGML document validation that the XSL processor do not have. Even with the macros, it is still fast. I compared with the equivalent XSL script with IE 5.x. So I ran the SGML/XML Kit (named by the marketing guys here Document with Style) with IE 5.x and could do some benchmark. I just added a PI to the document for DSSSL processing and bang, got it rendered in the browser when I typed the SGML URL in the address box. I really think that the macros you brought are more easy to read for document transformed to on-line documents than the original GI constructs. So if we can add STYLE and SCRIPT... a DSSSL document may be even more readable than a XSL one!!
