But in those entity declarations, only lower-case X is used... I
specifically checked just now. The entity declaration files I use came with
the XML DocBook 4.1.2 distribution.
Here is some stuff I just copied from the command line. First one of the
not-a-function-name messages, then I interrupted, then printed the
iso-cyr1.ent file to the screen:
jade:f:\personal\onderzoek\dtd/ent/iso-cyr1.ent:72:19:E: "X2116" is not a
function name
^C
F:\personal\onderzoek>type dtd\ent\iso-cyr1.ent
<!-- iso-cyr1.ent (initially distributed with DocBook XML DTD V4.1.1beta1)
-->
<!-- Derived from the corresponding ISO 8879 standard entity set
and the Unicode character mappings provided by Sebastian Rahtz -->
<!ENTITY acy "а"> <!-- CYRILLIC SMALL LETTER A -->
<!ENTITY Acy "А"> <!-- CYRILLIC CAPITAL LETTER A -->
<!ENTITY bcy "б"> <!-- CYRILLIC SMALL LETTER BE -->
