Thanks for the numerous pointers. Saxon looks perfect for what I'm doing, coming both as a standalone "instant" version and as a Java processor.
What's more Michael Kay uses XSLT to perform code generation, which is exactly what I'm trying to do in the area of custom GUI-code generation.
I'm everyday more impressed by the processing capabilities of what was supposed to be a "stylesheet language", and which actually is closer to a modern version of c-shell + awk. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that you can make coffee with XSLT ;-)
