My sincere apologies for placing this under a wrong subject.  But, I did get a
reply and it worked.  The solution is this:
if(rsa != null) //this did the trick
  {
       while(rsa.next())
       {
           //this is where the error took place
            String dbremarks=rsa.getString(1);
      }
}
