I guess you're talking about the C-64 here, right? The Atari 8-bits don't do
that kind of stuff...

Huh? This paragraph was a little confusing...

come on. Conversation wanders, and it's not like he was filling up
mailboxes. Maybe it was a breach of protocol, but easily corrected if it
needs to be. I didn't see much else posted by him. Maybe he's new and,
like I did
once, needs to learn what is allowable and what isn't. I think one time can
be overlooked.

I suppose you mean me... so I have to apologize... I didn't want to annoy
you all with descriptions of systems that don't interest you. I'm not new...
I'm member of this list since nearly two years now, and I wrote the "Jim's
heart will go on Demo" back then (only didn't have time for more since). I
know it's mainly 2600-specific. However, this thread mainly started with
comparing the 2600 to the systems that were there at that time, including
home computers. And Glenn Saunders pointed out the facts that would make a
system raise, stall or fall, including pricing, marketing and others. Since
the NES architecture was mentioned, I wanted to compare this to other game
system. The comparison with the Atari 8-bits and the Amiga, at least make
sense to me, for that's what the architecture of the 2600 directly evolved
to, the other systems of that time mentioned being the competition of them,
often influencing the steps that were taken next. I do admit that maybe from
the SNES or Genesis on, the thread moved out of topic. On the other hand,
the Color Gameboy, Nintendo's current portable color system, still IS based
on the NES, and that's what we started with. OK, next time I'll better look
for the US prices at online shops. (You didn't tell me the price of the N64
memory expansion anyway). But I think we've nearly covered everything that
needs to be here now.

(Sorry Pete, I forgot to correct the "To:" field when first sending this)

And from Zube:

>One of the many available accessories is an 8K byte cartridge adaptor for
development of Vic-20 games using the Reads 2600.

Now why would you want to develop Vic-20 games like this, instead of on the
real machine?

And E.Mooney wrote:

Why do you tell this to HIM? I already write that way since over two
years... ;-)

With love from Austria (and many off-topic threads to correct)
