I was surprised the domain atari2600.org was available - but it was.
So, I grabbed it. Now, if somebody on the list (or several people combined)
would care to pay for the cost of webpage/email redirection (probably about
$20pa), then I'll be happy to loan, on a semi-permanent basis, the domain to
users of the [stella] list. That is, www.atari2600.org could point to a
home page for [stella], and we each could have emails something like
adavie@xxxxxxxxxxxxx, cybpunks@xxxxxxxxxxxxx, Thomas_Jentzsch@xxxxxxxxxxxxx,
(just to pick some likely candidates from recent postings to the list) etc.
The domain is already registered/paid for, so redirection is all that is
required. Just seemed like a good idea, and I'm a nice guy, right? Anyone
interested?

I think we should use it to build that central 2600 developer resource we have been all talking about this year. You know, something similar to The Dig, but more comprehensive, searchable, and so on?

For those who don't know, web development is what I do for my dayjob. So I'd love to get something off the ground here. And along the way I can get probably arrange to get some free email redirects going too.

However, remember that Stellalist requires that you post from your actual email address, otherwise you'll have to leave and rejoin.

But yeah, an org domain is the kind of thing dedicated typically to studious/scholarly things, non-commercial. I think that would be the perfect domain for atari2600 tech.

I'm actually researching some hosting companies right now because I have volunteered to build a site for my local Lightwave Toaster Flyer usergroup, so maybe this can go along with that.

BTW, I also own GAMEDEVELOPERS.NET. I am planning to do something interesting with that in the future. It's a pretty good domain, don't you think?
