Well, the Vectrex had 1 DAC that could be routed to a number of places - it was used for the X, Y, and intensity values normally (there were sample&holds to "latch" the analog voltage).

Anyway, the dac can be routed to the speaker. Software then has to time the samples.

Yes, that speech synch (or similar, anyway) was used in Clay Cowgil's Moon Lander. Code is out there, somewhere, if you want to Deja/Google for it (Don't have it handy...)
