It would probably be confusing to display your last score and level reached
on the main screen in addition to the high score.  I think I would keep the
transition screen, with the addition of "Game Over" text.  And then display
just the high score on the title screen.

Actually I wasn't thinking of showing your entire score decreasing, just the
amount of points you can earn on the level you are playing.  So if you can
potentially earn 5,000 on a level, then this "counter" would start at 5,000
and then gradually count down as time runs out, you lose a life, etc.  I do
understand that without an explanation this might be a little confusing at
first.  It would be less confusing if this number was displayed on the
screen between levels, added to your previous score and then a new total
shown.  But now I'm just making things too complex.  :D

Will do.  Now I really need to break those out since Paul has reached Level
24, and probably beyond by now.  :)
