Thanks Andrew!  I'm trying to mentally deconstruct your routine.  I figure
you've duplicated the scanline code, which saves 3 cycles on a branch off
the top, 12 cycles on line doubling, and 5 cycles for an increment which
should give enough room to:

dec COLUP0	;5	5
dec COLUP1	;+5	10
dec COLUBK	;+5	15

So, did you end up with 5 extra cycles to spare? :)
