Chris thanks for your solution. I would have *never* guessed that. If we have to hack our way in (hope there is a more elegant method available) would doing this in DTD help <!ENTITY schewa CDATA "H"> or <!ENTITY schewa CDATA "&#nnn;"> I got some right some wrong using this method.
