The advantage of using a 2600 for Tamagotchi vs. a PC is that you can
easily keep a 2600 humming 24/7 (and easily buy another console for
gaming) that the simulation can truly run correctly.  You'd also have to
keep the audio pumped through your stereo so you know when the pet is
hungry/etc...

Of course, the problem with any PC or console based Tamagotchi is the lack
of portability.  Still, a lot of pets don't travel (cats for instance) so
maybe it's more realistic.

You could actually combine both programs into one.  The stuff that the pet
