I'd certainly like to see 7800 programming flourish and I think this would
help. The 7800 has a lot of potential, as does the homebrew community, and I
think the programmers out there could really do something with its advanced
capabilities.

To help this come about, a 7800 mailing list would be a great resource. It
would allow knowledgable people to share insights and ask questions, just as
we do here. I've said many times that my Euchre game could not have been
made without the assistance of the Stella list members, in addition to all
the online resources they recommend.

This might be a case of "if you build it, they will come." If a 7800 mailing
list existed, that might encourage those interested in trying their hand at
programming for it to come together. Right now there's so little out there
other than some technical docs that it's hard to even get started. Once the
first few halting steps are finally taken, I think this could grow very
quickly.

I don't think we should mix the two lists, though. There are those who
wouldn't want to delete a flood of 7800-related messages, and not every mail
program has filters to deal with them. In addition, they might clog search
results when using The Dig or a similar tool.

I do agree with Eckhard about the convenience of using a mailing list over a
web-based interface when you have a dialup connection.

Anyhow, in short: yes to a mailing list, no to grouping it with Stella.
