Subject: Re: DocBook -> Jade -> RTF: lists as RTF lists? From: David Miller <dmiller@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 16 Oct 2000 13:15:59 -0500 |
The overall task is this: (a) convert DocBook to editable RTF; (b) allow users to edit the RTF; (c) convert the edited RTF back into DocBook and update the original sources. Tricky, to say the least... the RTF->DocBook step is only really practical if the users use a specialized pseudo-DocBook Word template. In short, my most basic requirement is to let users edit their documents using their standard authoring tool (Word), but still maintain the documents in a format-neutral way (DocBook). -- Dave Norman Walsh wrote: > > / David Miller <dmiller@xxxxxxxxxxx> was heard to say: > | I need the RTF document produced by the Jade RTF backend to have lists > | as true RTF lists, so that when users edit the RTF document, they get > | automatic list renumbering, etc. Now, itemizedlists and orderedlists > | are just specially formatted regular paragraphs, as opposed to true RTF > | lists. > > I understand your problem and concur basically with what Brandon > replied, but... > > I feel compelled to point out that if you people modify the RTF files, > the SG/XML documents that you formatted in the first place will no > longer be the most recent sources and unless you're very careful, bad > things will happen eventually. > > Be seeing you, > norm > > -- > Norman Walsh <ndw@xxxxxxxxxx> | O for a Muse of fire, that would ascend > http://nwalsh.com/ | / The brightest heaven of invention, / > | A kingdom for a stage, princes to act / > | And monarchs to behold the swelling > | scene!--William Shakespeare, Henry V > > DSSSList info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/dsssl/dssslist DSSSList info and archive: http://www.mulberrytech.com/dsssl/dssslist
